Will you take this priest ...?
Article Abstract:
There is an increasingly strong feeling against compulsory celibacy for priests within the Catholic church. There has been a particularly vigorous challenge to the authority of the Vatican on this issue from Austria, where 500,000 Catholics have signed a protest petition caling for an end to celibacy and the ordination of women priests. Around two-thirds of Catholic priests worldwide are 'secular' already, not having taken strict vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, and this trend is likely to grow.

All we have to do is define this spirituality and write it into the organisations that have lost their souls
Article Abstract:
Some observers believe that large organizations which seem to have lost their souls would benefit from seeking to introduce an element of spirituality. However, this approach brings with it the difficulty of defining the concept of spirituality. It is important to recognize that spiritualities die and that there is no mutual language of spirituality. Spiritualities can emerge, but nobody has yet devised a way of translating these into existing concepts.

Of human love: the ex-priest's tale
Article Abstract:
Vincent McLaughlin was a Roman Catholic priest who retired after 12 years to marry and became a teacher. He feels that celibacy makes priests treat women discourteously, as a threat, rather than as people. Celibacy is not chosen and can prevent natural social relations with women. It is said to assist effectiveness as a priest but human love can augment ministry. Mclaughlin found that human love helped him comprehend God's love better.
