Wrath of world's largest Jewish community may yet be visited on Netanyahu
Article Abstract:
The Jewish community in the US, which numbers 6 million, has until recently automatically given full support to any action taken by an Israeli government. However, this is no longer the case. Jewish leaders in the US are now backing pressure from the US government on Israel to negotiate with the Palestinians. This is creating difficulties for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been able to rely on the Jewish community to prevent President Bill Clinton from taking any initiative detrimental to Israel.

Netanyahu vows tunnel will remain open 'always.' (Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu committed to reopened tunnel under the Muslim quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem)
Article Abstract:
No concessions will be made regarding the recently reopened tunnel under the Muslim quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, according to Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu. He has said that the Israeli withdrawal from Hebron will be delayed if the current violence continues. One of his close aides has said that the government may also look at disarming the Palestinian police force. This would lead to the Israeli army invading Gaza and the Palestinian autonomous enclaves on the West Bank.

Horror of Netanyahu heals Arab divisions
Article Abstract:
A recent meeting of president Hafez al-Assad of Syria, president Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has led to calls for a summit meeting of the Arab League to be held shortly. Arab states are becoming increasingly concerned that the Oslo peace agreements between the Palestines and Israel will collapse, and believe that this could have a serious impact on the region as a whole. The election of Mr Netanyahu is seen as a negative development.
