Robinson: minister of embarrassing moments
Article Abstract:
Geoffrey Robinson was seen as mysterious and even glamorous even before he was appointed UK Paymaster General in May 1997. It was known that he was one of the Labour party's richest MPs and a significant contributor to party funds. Shortly after his appointment, he began to clash with others in the party, and he is now under pressure to avoid publicizing details about how he funded Prime Minister Tony Blair before the general election. His book, 'The Unconventional Minister,' is causing considerable concern to Blair's advisers.

MP links Ashcroft to drug and money-laundering inquiries
Article Abstract:
The UK Conservative party has accused Labour MP Peter Bradley of abusing parliamentary privilege to place allegations about its Treasurer, Michael Ashcroft, in the public domain. Bradley told the House of Commons that Ashcroft was named six times in connection with claims about money laundering or drug smuggling. He emphasized that he was not alleging that Ashcroft was guilty of any crime, but stated that Conservative party leader William Hague should be worried about the allegations.
