You can't treat a tot like a teen
Article Abstract:
One of the main negative effects of the national curriculum on the provision of education for young children has been that the concept of infancy has been eliminated. Infancy is no longer recognised as a separate stage of human development, and teachers have been discouraged from developing the specific expertise required for teaching infants. Now, the educational requirements of children aged five-seven are seen as broadly the same as those of 16-year-olds, with the result that young children are being placed under great academic pressure.

Complimentary computers
Article Abstract:
Any small business looking for a PC must first select an application, as different applications can need specific types of hardware. If the PC is only to be used for word processing, spreadsheets and database work, then it is not necessary to purchase a very expensive system. It is worth purchasing as much memory power as possible if the small business is to run Windows 95. If the equipment is to be used at home by other family members, then it should have sound and a CD-ROM drive already built in.

No time like the present for buyers
Article Abstract:
Prices of computers continually fluctuate and prices have fallen downwards by 40% in the 18 months to Jul 1993. A typical PC for a small business, with a 486SX processor running at 25 megahertz with a 100-megabyte hard disk and four megabytes of ram, would cost about 1,050 pounds sterling by direct mail, but could be found for 750 pounds sterling. Suppliers often reduce superseded models as they introduce the latest popular types. 'Bundles' of software may be included in the price.
