You'll never sing alone ...
Article Abstract:
Some songs made up by football fans are of very poor quality, and usually fade quickly into obscurity. In contrast, other songs seem to appeal to the popular imagination and become very well known. This has been seen recently in the case of a song devised by Oldham Athletic fan Smug Roberts, which quickly sold out in the club shop. There are some football songs that have a rich heritage, and they give an interesting insight into social history in the UK.

Players bemused by 'fixing' claims
Article Abstract:
The majority of professional footballers have dismissed recent allegations that bribery and corruption are widespread in the game. They believe that it is not really possible to deliberately influence the outcome of a game, as any player performing badly would be substituted by the manager very quickly. They are concerned that honest professionals will receive a poor image as a result of the actions of a few dishonest players.

It's a game of two halves, three pints of lager and four tequilas
Article Abstract:
Alcohol addiction has long been common among football players in the UK. There have been several incidents in which football players have behaved inappropriately after having consumed too much alcohol. This has prompted the Football Association to announce plans to carry out random breathalyser tests on every player of professional football. In sharp contrast, alcohol abuse is condemned by football clubs in continental Europe.
