14CO2 measurement in air: literature review and a new sensitive method
Article Abstract:
The medium-volume sampler was developed to accurately measure low concentrations of radiocarbon in air. Laboratory validation experiments showed the system to recover greater than 96% of the applied radioactivity. The system relies on 2-methoxypropylamine to absorb carbon dioxide and radiocarbon from the air. High air sampling rate, suitability for short-term measurements, low detection limits and easy sample preparation are some of the advantages of the new radiocarbon detection method.

Nitrogen dioxide absorption and sulfite oxidation in aqueous sulfite
Article Abstract:
An examination of the chemical reaction surrounding the removal of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) from flue gas by absorption in sulfite solution showed a two-phase reaction starting with the absorption of NO2 to sulfite species and followed by NO2 hydrolysis. NO2 was found to react with sulfite, thiosulfate and bisulfite. Study showed that NO2 removal in conventional limestone slurry scrubber is not an effective procedure, but must be augmented by sodium sulfite to facilitate NO2 removal.

Numerical and experimental study of cleaning process of a pulse-jet fabric filtration system
Article Abstract:
The best design and operating conditions of the pulse-jet cleaning process of a fabric filtration system, which will provide more cleaning force for bag cleaning, are derived using a numerical model. Results show that tank volume, initial tank pressure, nozzle diameter, distance between nozzle and bag top, and pulse duration are the optimum parameters affecting the pressure impulse in the fabric bag.
