A Tale of Two Cities: Architecture and the Digital Revolution
Article Abstract:
The use of digital technologies has significantly changed architecture and construction. Computer-aided design systems allow designers to make complex analyses of structures, and to predict their performance. A comparison of 2 architectural masterpieces of the later 20th century are used to illustrate this point.

Searching a quantum phone book
Article Abstract:
L K Grover has developed an algorithm for a hypothetical quantum computer that can search an unstructured database much faster than a classical computer. The units of information, called qubits, are electrons in two states simultaneously. A clever series of operations simplifies the search.
