Simulation of cyclic displacement by counterpoised shape memory elements
Article Abstract:
The cyclic behavior of a device that allows two distinct stable rest states at a common temperature is analyzed by employing a uniaxial model for shape memory behavior. The model monitors the condition of the shape memory material based on austenite and two variant martensite. This will determine the device's shakedown behavior based on repeatable per-stroke strain delivery and, likewise, gives the temperature excursions required for the related full displacement. The results are discussed.

Determination of shear stress-strain curve from torsion tests for loading-unloading and cyclic loading
Article Abstract:
A method based on Nadai's solution is employed for determining the true or Cauchy shear stress-strain curve of a material by means of torsion test of a solid shaft. The method is also found to be applicable to loading, unloading and cyclic loading. It can also be used for the fixed-end torsion of a solid shaft in the large shear strain range. A modified method is also derived for the case of free-end torsion of a tubular specimen in the large strain range.
