A shore thing: lakeshore ecosystems are ill-equipped to handle development
Article Abstract:
Lakeside residents need to be made aware of the damages done to the natural shoreline when cleaning out weeds, shrubs and willows or creating lawns and concrete partitions. Wildlife groups and government representatives are initiating an information campaign to preserve the natural shoreline.

Small is beautiful: Merv Wilkinson has been managing his little woodlot successfully for 50 years
Article Abstract:
Merv Wilkinson has been managing a woodlot of coastal Douglas fir on ecological principles since 1938. The forest had the same amount of timber standing in 1990 as in 1936, despite the cutting of approximately 1.4 million board feet.
