Alluring approach
Article Abstract:
The East Fork White River Bridge in Columbus, Indiana, will provide vehicular access to the city, and balances engineering demands and aesthetic requirements. It will contain four traffic lanes and two cantilevered sidewalls. Its superstructure will be suspended from a pylon by 40 stay cables in a symmetrical, semifan arrangement around the pylon's center. The bridge's construction will involve hydraulic launching of deck components from the eastern abutment. Lights will illuminate the sidewalks, the pylon, and the stays at night.
