Plant geneticist Wes Jackson founded a revolutionary concept dubbed as the perennial polyculture or natural systems agriculture. This system proposes to replace yearly crops with perennials, prairie seed-bearers, to prevent topsoil erosion and restore ecological functions of the vanished grasslands.

The future of LEDs: color-making plastics
Article Abstract:
A research team from the University of Rochester and Xerox Corp. has developed plastic light-emitting diodes (LEDs) which could produce a variety of colors. The LEDs may be used in developing hang-on-the-wall television screens and flat-panel displays for personal computers and similar devices.
