Astronomers paint the big picture and fill in the blanks
Article Abstract:
Lev Kofman proposed an explanation of how the large-scale tapestry of the universe formed, using equations modified from the work of Russian physicist Yakov Zel'dich. Michael Shull and John Stocke observed dark gas clouds in the great voids of the universe, using the Hubble Space Telescope.

Precocious structures found
Article Abstract:
Recent observations by the Keck 10-meter telescope reveal large-scale celestial structures billions of light-years away, which appear to have formed much earlier than conventional theory dictates. The observations suggest the universe does not have enough mass to stop continual expansion.

Found: ash from the first stars?
Article Abstract:
Observations of the Lyman-Alpha forest clouds indicate that they have been contaminated by carbon. The finding indicates that the Lyman-Alpha forest was probably not a precursor of galaxies and may call for a revision of accepted theories of cosmology.
