Autonomous devices
Article Abstract:
Robotic technology is advancing due to cheaper and higher computational power and data fusion techniques. Robotic technology will likely be helpful to elderly and handicapped people. The need for good fire fighting robots and autonomous cleaning machines encourages more research work. The biological computers based on the techniques for DNA analysis suggest the possibility of externally programmed brain implantations. Research for robotic technology applications in various fields such as marine research, construction industry, and others are underway.

Chromium ferritic steel
Article Abstract:
Utility 12% chromium ferritic steel falls between mild and stainless steels in price and properties. Two products are available in the United Kingdom: 3CR12 from Cromweld Steels, and Hyfab 3/12 from British Steel Stainless; both come in a variety of forms. Utility ferritic stainless steel costs about 2.5 times what mild steel does, but it lasts 250 times longer in a marine environment and is 50% more resistant to non-dry abrasive wear.

Shock tactics
Article Abstract:
British company Aigis's shockwave reduction product Technology For Attenuating Blast-Related Energy (TABRE) is designed for minimalizing damage caused by a bomb blast. TABRE's innovative design is based on a waste material and coating resin. TABRE can be molded to fit almost all shapes, according to Aigis director Steve Holland. It could be used in a wide variety of applications such as vehicle protection.
