The Electric Bicycle Co. has introduced an electric moped called the EV Warrior. The EV Warrior is essentially an enhanced city bicycle with a battery-electric power-assist system. The bike, which has a price ranging from $900 to $1,500, will be sold only through automobile dealers, who will offer test rides and three-year financing.

BMW has unveiled its restyled electric prototype car, the E2. Designed for four passengers and using a larger sodium-sulfur battery, the car will travel approximately 160 miles between charges. Research continues in an effort to develop a more efficient battery for electric cars.

A mechanical infinitely variable transmission (IVT) has been conceived by Paul Pires and developed by Epilogics Inc. Devices such as the IVT would help reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption, but most auto makers are already satisfied with their present transmissions.
