Ceramic shrinks when the heat goes on
Article Abstract:
Researchers from Oregon State University and Brookhaven National Laboratory in NY have found a ceramic known as zirconium tungstate that when heated, shrinks rather than expands. The ceramic, composed of oxygen, zirconium and tungsten, could be applied in electronic circuit board construction.

Just how old is that DNA, anyway?
Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed a test that measures chemical changes in the amino acids of protein to estimate the validity of ancient DNA samples. The test indicates that only insects trapped in amber are likely to yield ancient DNA.
