Managing technology for the globalization of service operations
Article Abstract:
Research on the service industry's management of globalization reveals that the availability of technology for automation does not mean that overall business strategies may be discounted. Recent advances in technology allow service companies to improve front line and back office operations significantly. However, the industry should realize that technology is just an option in globalization, that expansion opportunities may be lost because of technological limitations and that expansion should not be dictated by technological capacity alone.
