Chimpanzee outbreak heats up search for ebola origin
Article Abstract:
An outbreak of a previously unknown strain of Ebola virus among chimpanzees in the Tai forest of Ivory Coast has revealed clues about the origin and transmission of the Ebola family. In the first recorded transmission from wild animal to human, a participant in a chimp autopsy became infected.

A 24-hour circadian clock is found in the mammalian retina
Article Abstract:
Neurobiologists Gianluca Tosini and Michael Menaker report that the mammalian retina regulates circadian rhythms that operate independently of the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Melatonin, produced in the retina, plays a major role in regulating circadian rhythms in the retina.

Evidence found for a possible 'aggression' gene
Article Abstract:
Recent research on genetic causes of aggressive behavior focused on a Dutch family in which at least 14 males were prone to sudden outbursts of violent aggression. The study points to a mutation of a gene on the X chromosome for the enzyme monoamine oxidase A.
