Climate and Health
Article Abstract:
Hurricanes, heavy rain, and other extreme weather events can have a significant impact on public health in developing countries. For example, heavy rain can trigger outbreaks of mosquito-borne viruses, and hurricanes and floods bring on waterborne diseases. Sudden weather changes, such as droughts followed by heavy rains, can bring about population explosions of disease-carrying rodents.
