Closing in on a stomach-sparing aspirin substitute
Article Abstract:
Drug companies are racing to produce a 'superaspirin' which can reduce pain without harmful side effects. X-ray crystal structures of the cooxygenase enzyme that induces pain and its near-twin that protects the stomach and kidneys have been solved, paving the way for highly discriminatory drugs.

Making single electrons compute
Article Abstract:
Researchers are working on developing ultrafine semiconductors with devices that manipulate electrons one at a time. The single-electron devices would require much less power and would increase the processing and memory capacities of computer chips by orders of magnitude.
