Combined bending and torsional fatigue of woven roving GRP
Article Abstract:
Biaxial fatigue of woven roving glass reinforced polyester subjected to in-phase and out-of-phase cyclic bending and torsional moments was investigated. Tests were performed for fiber orientations (0,90) and (45,-45) tubes to examine failure theories for this material. Findings revealed that for (0,90) composites, the S-N curves in pure bending and in pure torsion are enough to predict life. For (45,-45) tubes, the value of the normal stress interaction component of the strength tensor is needed.

Automated fatigue data fitting using structural shift detection
Article Abstract:
A set of data fitting algorithms for calculating the cyclic material characteristics are employed in the local strain technique for fatigue life prediction. These characteristics are derived by fitting power-law curves to the elastic and plastic components of uniaxial strain-life fatigue data obtained under constant amplitude testing. The fitting technique is demonstrated for two sets of SAE 1045 steel data.
