Debating Extinction
Article Abstract:
Research into the causes of extinction of many animals that lived between 12,500 and about 11,000 years ago has been problematized various factors including the arrival of humans. However, Australia may present a good site for the research of the causes of extinction. Most all large animals became extinct in Australia about 20,000 years ago. The extinction of the gigantic Australian bird Genyornis was probably caused by human hunting.

Giant Lava Flows, Mass Extinctions, and Mantle Plumes
Article Abstract:
The geological impact of massive volcanic activity is examined and discussed. There seems a coinciding of the three greatest Phanerozoic mass extinctions and the formation of the world's greatest continental large igneous provinces. Specific attention is given to the Triassic-Jurassic large igneous province, which may have had its origins some 201 million years ago.

Late Triassic extinctions and the origin of dinosaurs
Article Abstract:
The Earth endured at least one mass extinction between the late Triassic and the Jurassic period. However, data exists that indicates that mass extinctions may have occurred 202 million years ago and about 220 million years ago. These mass extinctions had a major influence on the development and spread of dinosaur species.
