Deep Green Rewrites Evolutionary History of Plants

Article Abstract:

The evolutionary links among plants are now being studied on a wide basis. The "Deep Green" botanical version of the Human Genome Project merges molecular, fossil, and morphological data, and hopes to build a family tree for all green plants. The 5-year project based at the Missouri Botanical Garden is a joint project of 200 scientists from 12 countries.
