Parent-subsidiary relationships in transnational companies: aspects of technical development and organization
Article Abstract:
International firms must specify whichpart of their organization will handle technological development. These international firms should consider business specifications, location of production units, distribution, and previous organization, among others, in giving organizational assignments. Companies are restructuring their organizations in a specific area to meet prevailing market conditions particularly cost reduction. Given a matrix organization, this concentration allows better communication and gives the product division responsibility for technical development.

Managing innovation in SME's: a comparison of companies in the UK, France and Portugal
Article Abstract:
A survey of 233 manufacturing, transportation, communications and construction executives in the UK, France and Portugal was carried out to validate the theory that technology management impacts technological innovation success in small- to medium-sized enterprises. The poll, which looked at the relationship of innovation variables to economic and managerial factors, indicated marked differences in technology management approaches but showed similarities in satisfaction with the existing level of innovative behavior.

US biotechnology companies have always depended on internal resources for the funding of the development and commercialization of its own new therapeutic product. The effects of the internal funding approaches is categorized and analyzed in terms of the type of innovation and the ability of start-up companies to become stable companies. A company's funding approach affects the development of a firm.
