Did Neandertals lose an evolutionary 'arms' race?
Article Abstract:
Morphological differences between Neandertals and early modern humans, who lived in the Middle East around the same time, give clues to differences in behavior that may have favored the moderns. Upper-arm bone growth and worn teeth in Neandertal suggest that the moderns processed food more intelligently.

Calibrating the mitochondrial clock
Article Abstract:
Heteroplasmy, the inheritance of more than one sequence of mitchondrial DNA (mtDNA), may be as frequent as 10% to 20% in humans. This higher rate may upset established assumptions about mtDNA mutation in evolution. Several studies are summarized.

The peopling of the Americas
Article Abstract:
New genetic research shows that diverse groups of Native Americans share gene types and indicates that their ancestors migrated to North America from Asia in one or two waves. This contradicts the Greenberg hypothesis of three separate waves.
