Double cantilever beam measurement and finite element analysis of cryogenic mode I interlaminar fracture toughness of glass-cloth/epoxy laminates
Article Abstract:
An experimental and analytical investigation in cryogenic Mode I interlaminar fracture behavior and toughness of SL-E woven glass-epoxy laminates was conducted. Double cantilever beam (DCB) tests were performed at room temperature (R.T.), liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K), and liquid helium temperature (4K) to evaluate the effect of temperature and geometrical variations on the interlaminar fracture toughness.

Analysis and testing of indentation fracture behavior of piezoelectric ceramics under an electric field
Article Abstract:
Indentation fracture (IF) tests were carried out on piezoelectric materials under combined mechanical and electrical loads to estimate the electric fracture toughness. A three-dimensional finite element analysis was employed to enable the calculation of the energy release rate and stress intensity factor.

Cryogenic fracture toughness determination of a structural of a structural alloy weldment by notch tensile measurement and finite element analysis
Article Abstract:
The fracture toughness of structural alloys and weldments through experimental and analytical characterizations is investigated. The result indicates a linear correlation between failure energy absorption and fracture toughness is found for crosshead rates of 0.2 mm/min and 20 mm/s, respectively.
