Early AZT takes a pounding in French-British 'Concorde' trial
Article Abstract:
A trial sponsored by Britain's Medical Research Council and France's National AIDS Research Agency indicates that AZT does not postpone the onset of fullblown AIDS. The finding contradicts the established US practice of prescribing AZT when signs of immune-system damage appear.

A research team led by Che-Chung Tsai has found that an anti-HIV drug called PMPA is highly effective in preventing the transmission of SIV in monkeys. Other research indicates promise in treating SIV infection.
