Electron bell probes 'house of mirrors.' (particle behavior in electric and magnetic fields)(Research News: Physics)
Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed a method to determine the source of the discrepancy between their predictions of how particle behavior in electric and magnetic fields and actual measurements of particle behavior. A 'superelectron' magnified the differences, which appear due to 'image charges' in nearby conductors.
