Engaging zwitterions in carbon-carbon and carbon-nitrogen bond-forming reactions: A promising synthetic strategy
Article Abstract:
Carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions are central to organic synthesis and there is a continuous search to discover newer and simpler reactions in this area. A study explores carbon-carbon and carbon-nitrogen bond-forming reactions mediated by zwitterions generated by the addition of organic nucleophiles to activated unsaturated systems, highlighting their synthetic potential.

A carbon nanotube-based Coulter nanoparticle counter
Article Abstract:
The properties of carbon nanotube-based Coulter counters (CNCCs), its application and its unique characteristics are described. CNCC provide a means for simultaneously determining the size and electrophoretic mobility of single nanoparticles from signal height and width measurements.

Photophysics of individual single-walled carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
A combination of several techniques is employed to study the fluorescence from the individual single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The SWNTs are found to exhibit excellent fluorescence and hence can be used in biological imaging and several other applications.
