Factors affecting humic-nickel complex mediated reduction of trichloroethene in homogeneous aqueous solution
Article Abstract:
Researchers at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Florida examined trichlorethane (TCE) reductive dechlorination mediated by humic-Ni complexes in homogeneous aqueous solution using titanium)III) citrate as the bulk reductant. They determined that pH and competing ions significantly influenced the reduction.

Global distribution of perfluorooctane sulfonate in wildlife
Article Abstract:
Some tissues of wildlife were collected from urbanized areas in North America and Europe, as well as in remote, less urbanized areas such as the Arctic and North Pacific Oceans. The study found that perflurooctanesulfonate, a fluorinated organic contaminant, is widespread in the environment, with concentrations greater in more populated and industrialized areas than in remote marine areas and that fish-eating animals from remote marine locations had greater concentrations of the chemicals than the concentrations in their diet.

Sorption of trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene in a batch reactive metallic iron-water system
Article Abstract:
An anaerobic batch system was used to measure the sorption and reduction kinetics of trichlorotheylenes and tetrachloroethylenes with metallic iron. A generalized Langmuir isotherm expression was used to model the sorption behavior of the compounds. The results showed that reduction rates of PCE and TCE are first-order and that sorption occurs primarily in nonreactive sites.
