Flow instability in the torsional straining of commercially pure titanium
Article Abstract:
The torsional straining of commercially pure titanium induces flow instability during adiabatic heating, which is determined by an empirical criterion obtained by integrating an uncoupled constitutive equation over the strain increment accepted by the material and modifying the thermal softening equation. During a rise in temperature and a lowering in the strain rate, the instability shear strain increases. A comparative study of the experimental and asserting measurements reveal the flow instability at strains approximately equal to the thermo-plastic instability strains for 150 degree centigrade.

Rate dependent deformation of semi-crystalline polypropylene near room temperature
Article Abstract:
The strain rate dependent, large plastic deformation occurring in isotropic semi-crystalline polypropylene, at room temperature, is examined. The capability of a proposed model of plastic deformation in semi-crystalline polymers to predict such behaviour, is studied, concentrating on the prediction of rate dependent yielding, strain softening and hardening and temperature rises. Comparisons showed good agreement and offered an insight into the merits of polycrystalline modeling theories.
