Freezing characteristics along a horizontal cooled tube immersed in aqueous binary solution with main flow
Article Abstract:
The freezing characteristics of an aqueous binary solution along a horizontal cooled tube are investigated. Experiments are conducted wherein a cylinder is dipped in an ethylene-glycol solution and subjected to both forced and free convection. The necessary measurements are obtained through a set of thermocouples placed around cooling tube. Results indicate that the characteristics of the frozen layer are considerably affected by the cooling conditions which are dependent on the temperature and concentration of the solution.

Test machine and control system interactions in the evaluation of rate-independent metal flow
Article Abstract:
The effects of test machine dynamic response and control systems strategies on the outcome of rate-dependent metal flow experiments are investigated. Pure 1145 aluminum specimens are tested using a servoelectric test machine with analog electronic control circuitry. Data are collected using a data acquisition system with 16 bit resolution. Results show that the dynamic response of the machine must be characterized prior to any rate-change experiment in order to achieve a transient response.

Analysis of tube free hydrofroming using an inverse approach with FLD-based adjustment of process parameters
Article Abstract:
An inverse approach (IA) formulation for the analysis of tubes under free hydrofroming conditions is described. The comparison of the results from the inverse and incremental analyses has viewed that the inverse method provided a good approximation for the incremental solution for the tube free hydroforming problem.
