Functions of the proteasome: the lysis at the end of the tunnel
Article Abstract:
Proteasome plays a key role in degrading proteins in eukaryotic cells. The proteasome pathway performs the rapid destruction of regulatory proteins and the slower destruction of cell proteins. Details of proteasome research are discussed.

Throttles and dampers: controlling the engine of membrane fusion
Article Abstract:
Researchers have identified the process that controls the fusion of membranes in protein transport within eukaryotic cells. The Rab protein interacts with the t-SNARE protein to allow the formation of a t-SNARE-v-SNARE complex.

Whose finger is on the switch?
Article Abstract:
The small guanosine triphosphatase Ran controls the nuclear transport mechanism that moves macromolecules into and out of the cell nucleus. Vesicular stomatitis virus disrupts protein synthesis by disrupting nuclear transport.
