Future grows dim for fusion
Article Abstract:
The DOE faces probable deep cuts in its fusion-energy research programs. Political pressure to cut budgets will make magnetic fusion projects such as the Tokamak Physics Experiment and the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor targets for cancellation.

Fusion advocates scramble for scraps
Article Abstract:
The Dept of Energy is trying to devise a fusion program costing from $200 million to $275 million annually to keep it at a funding level acceptable to Congress. Funding the Tokamak Physics Experiment and the International Thermonuclear Reactor will be difficult.

Senate targets fusion, backs NIF
Article Abstract:
The Senate Appropriations Committee cut 1996 funding for fusion research to $225 million, $4 million less that House funding and less than the $375 million appropriated in 1995. Another Dept of Energy project, NIF, received its budget request of $37.4 million.
