Treatment that regenerate muscle, increase its strength, and protect it from degradation would soon be entering human clinical trials for muscle disorders. This kind of gene therapy could transform the lives of the elderly and people with muscular dystrophy.

Discoveries have found that cows are afflicted with mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in the U.S., Canada. New tests, the conformation dependence immunoassay (CDI) and others are done to identify the presence of the dangerous prion.
