Gene tests get tested

Myriad Genetics' efforts to market a diagnostic called BRCAnalysis has revealed that genetic testing may not make money for biogenetics companies had quickly as many had hoped. The test was pulled off the market due to social and regulatory concerns such as the possibility of genetic discrimination.

Gene mutation provides more meat on the hoof

Mutations of the gene that makes the protein myostatin have been linked to instances of double muscling in cattle. For the last 30 years Belgian farmers have bred a strain of cattle that yields 20% more meat while consuming the same diet as ordinary breeds.
