Survey shows skills shortages still biting
Article Abstract:
The 1998 labor market survey conducted by the UK Engineering and Marine Training Authority showed that engineering employers registered the highest in labor insufficiency. Engineering departments of manufacturing companies, particularly the aerospace, automotive and metal product sectors, have difficulties in recruiting qualified and experienced employees. As a result, they have higher production time and cost and have lost orders, which together contribute to the stagnation of the growth of the companies.
