The Conoid Atrium Wall at the new Federal Courthouse in Boston, MA, the Bureau of Census building in Bowie, MD, and the University of Connecticut's new downtown campus in Stamford are three structures that make use of glasswall technology. The technology is based on the rigging systems found in racing yachts and involves the use of high-strength alloys that allow smaller-diameter cables or rods to bear heavy loads.

Securing a safe haven for herons
Article Abstract:
The Washington state provides a safe natural sanctuary for herons through the Point Roberts heronry, a public-owned property which houses a total of 400 pairs of birds. B.C. also instituted a related program aimed at identifying bird colonies to be placed under conservation programs.

British Columbia's temperate rainforests can be preserved by adopting 'environmentally friendly' logging. Logging should be done only in non-pristine areas, and should not lead to the destruction of habitats that evolved over the years.
