Getting familiar with the top quark
Article Abstract:
The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) is closing in on an exact measurement of the top quark's mass, a little over a year after CDF and another group at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory proved the particle's existence. A precise mass will help detection of the still undetected Higgs boson.

A new accelerator explores the social life of quarks
Article Abstract:
The $515 million Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) was designed to study quark behavior and nuclei with methods that are subtler than those used in conventional accelerators. Instead of smashing protons together, the CEBAF will examine nuclei with a stream of electrons.

Collisions hint that quarks may not be indivisible
Article Abstract:
One of the groups that documented the top quark, the last fundamental particle predicted by the Standard Model, now claims to have evidence of even smaller particles. Scientists are now seeking alternate explanations for the unexpected 'hard' collisions between quarks they observed.
