Article Abstract:
The main environmental challenges faced to demolish and replace the Franklin Boulevard/Thornton Road Bridge was the safeguarding of a large population of Mexican free-tailed bats, protection of certain plants and animal species. Ecological ramifications were of main concern, the Sacramento County Department of Environmental Review and Assessment undertook a natural environmental study before the demolition.
