Article Abstract:
Data on modern human origins (MHO) come from a variety of research traditions, each with its own paradigmatic bias. Archaeological research on MHO has two competing models - the continuity model and the replacement model. Biases and preconceptions are too often the basis for evaluating MHO research.

Genetic data and the African origin of humans
Article Abstract:
Numerous loci are required to estimate when modern humans first left Africa. A single mutating locus is not enough to reliably estimate population divergences, even when the population sample is very large.
