Homing in on a prostate cancer gene
Article Abstract:
An international research team has against all odds identified a gene as a risk factor for hereditary prostate cancer, on chromosome 1. There is some indication that the gene may be a cancer-promoting oncogene rather than a tumor suppressor gene, which becomes a risk factor when mutated.

Behavioral effects and gene delivery in a rat model of Parkinson's disease
Article Abstract:
Reduced apomorphine-induced turning behavior in rats may not be a good criterion of dopaminergic action on striatal neurons. Reduced turning can result from damage to the neostriatum caused by viral infusions used to deliver the L-dopa synthesizing enzyme.

The chameleon within: improving antigen delivery
Article Abstract:
Researchers have determined a method for converting the epithelial cells lining the intestine into a type of M cells, which can transport antigens into the immune system. The finding may lead to methods for increasing the efficiency of oral vaccination.
