Article Abstract:
Recent findings support geophysicists' contentions that parts of Canada's coast drifted from as far as Baja California, as opposed to geologists' consensus that the chunks traveled a few hundred kilometers at most. Jane Wynn's evidence from paleomagnetic analysis of Canadian rocks is described.

Seismologist Paul Silver suggests that the Andes, unlike mountain ranges that were formed by colliding continents, are the result of a westward moving South America colliding with viscous mantle rock. Geophysicist Raymond Russo and Silver attribute the continent's movement to mantle flow.
