India revives green revolution
Article Abstract:
India faces a daunting task to continue its self sufficiency in food products to meet the demands of a growing populace which will reach one billion by the year 2000. Agriculture research and development has to devise new methods to sustain the momentum of increased production. Dependency on chemicals has to be avoided to increase productivity as they are not eco-friendly. Improving and upgrading of high yielding farm lands and seeds and bringing more areas under modern farming technology are some of the environmentally suitable techniques proposed.

Fighting clean, green in modern turf wars
Article Abstract:
The organically based natural approach to lawn care presents an environmentally safe method to turn the lawns enduringly green. The method ensures the safety and protection of humans and the environment through the ingestion of destructive living materials into the insects and worms. The biological approach is in sharp contrast to the use of synthetic pesticides that combine a rapid effect with harmfulness to plants and animals living in the soil. Although it is less harmful, its high costs compel many to turn to costly synthetics.

Pest control turns green
Article Abstract:
Integrated pest management (IPM) is a suitable alternative to conventional pesticide use in the controlling of pests in the workplace. IPM's superiority over other services can be gleaned from its lower costs and a reduction in the number of pesticide application service calls from 100% to 40%. The General Services Administration's IPM program uses primary pest-control tactics such as proper management of workplaces, routine inspection of pest infestation areas, non-toxic ways of cleaning, and controlled pesticide use.
