Free edge stresses in elastic and viscoelastic composites under uniaxial extension, bending, and twisting loadings
Article Abstract:
Many studies have been undertaken to investigate inter-laminar stresses and failures of laminated composites. A study based on Pipes and Pagano's displacement field for laminates under general plane deformation state, developed a finite element procedure to analyse elastic and linear viscoelastic interlaminar stresses in composite laminates, subjected to axial extension, bending and twisting loads.

Dynamics of thick viscoelastic beams
Article Abstract:
The Johnson and Tessler formulation for a viscoelastic higher-order thick beam finite element is expanded to include elastodynamic deformations. Elastic strains and conjugate viscous strains in the constitutive model are linked by a system of first-order ordinary differential equations. Convenient finite element formulation is achieved with the use of the internal strain variables.
