Local variations of strain and strain rate in roll bite region during rolling of steels
Article Abstract:
Unrolled and rolled workpieces were used in tensile and microhardness tests to determine a link between plastic strain and hardness. Microhardness measurements were taken in the roll bite region of a partially cold rolled workpiece, and results were converted to the strain distribution. Results indicate that spatial variations of strain rate are nonuniform in both cold and hot rolling.

Rate data and material model parameter estimation
Article Abstract:
Stress-strain data is traditionally used to estimate material parameters in viscoplastic material models. Such models exist in rate form and have to be integrated in time for the period of the laboratory tests. An alternative where the rate form is fitted to time-differentiated stress-strain data is considered. This provided well-determined parameter estimates.
