Intellectual property transfer from universities to business: requisite for sustained competitive advantage?
Article Abstract:
A study has been conducted to examine the processes and structures by which intellectual property is transferred from key research universities to business in the context of government policies and societal needs. Business and government have been found to allocate fewer resources to basic research while universities and similar institutions usually adapt more aggressive policies on research. Findings have revealed that most of universities involved in the study required comprehensive intellectual property and technology transfer policies before integrating their research with business expectations for exclusivity.

Flexible returns and the diffusion of innovation policy
Article Abstract:
Studies have revealed that the occurrence of flexible returns brings into evidence new dynamics of technology diffusion and new dimensions for technological policy action. It has been found that the higher economic and technical uncertainty about the innovation, more adoption of decisions are made based on past experiences. Active technology policies are recommended since increasing return tend to lead to market locking. Such policies may be implemented to keep options open in the presence of a wide range of technological successes.
