Life prediction of notched specimens using multiaxial surface and subsurface strain analyses
Article Abstract:
Multiaxial fatigue life prediction studies were employed on notched specimens subjected to high strain constant amplitude loading. The specimens were obtained from isotropic and anisotropic batches of the structural steen EN15R. A simple subsurface strain model was developed to overcome the geometry difference between the thin walled biaxial specimens and the solid bar notched specimens. Fairly good estimates were derived with the multiaxial fatigue parameters and the subsurface model utilizing elastic-plastic finite element simulations.

A constitutive model for estimating multiaxial notch strains
Article Abstract:
Elastic stress equations help develop a generalized method that employs Mroz hardening equation, the related flow rule and a two-surface model to estimate the multiaxial local notch strains and stresses of materials subjected to loading. Nonlinear finite element analysis data, Glinka rule and Neuber rule help characterize the uniaxial properties of the two-surface model. Measured and model-derived data show moderate agreement.

A new method for estimating nonproportional notch-root stresses and strains
Article Abstract:
A generalized two-step endochronic procedure for estimating notch stresses and strains based on elastic stress solutions is shown. Both stress-controlled and strain-controlled algorithms based on endochronic plasticity theory are shown. The suggested technique is employed for the computation of multiaxial strains under monotonic and nonproportional loads. Various geometric constraints are also studied.
