Congener and enantioselective analysis of toxaphene in sediment and food web of a contaminated estuarine wetland
Article Abstract:
Research focuses on congener and enantioselective analysis of toxaphene in sediment and in the food web of a contaminated estuarine wetland. The results of the study indicate that biochemical transformations within the food web will probably change the residue pattern and the fate of toxaphene.

Low-dose responses to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin in single living human cells measured by synchrotron infrared spectromicroscopy
Article Abstract:
Researchers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory exposed individual living HepG2 cells to low concentrations of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin and measured the results using a synchrotron radiation-based Fourier transform infrared spectromicroscopy.

Air-Water Exchange and Mass Balance of Toxaphene in the Great Lakes
Article Abstract:
Researchers showed that the colder temperatures and lower sedimentation of Lake Superior result in higher levels of toxaphene, and that atmospheric sources are not a factor.
