Natural synthetics
Article Abstract:
Fabric technology has combined biotechnology and plant breeding to produce better textile materials that will require little processing and contain the desired material characteristics. Plants have been raised to produce fibers that contain plastics to produce threads that can be woven to form water resistant fabrics.

Liquid fuels from natural gas
Article Abstract:
The attractiveness of natural gas as an alternative fuel depends the success of its conversion to liquid form. Several new techniques for the liquefaction of natural gas are being developed, including an improvement on the Fischer-Tropsch process and new ceramics to contain the catalyst for liquefaction.
