Networks for technology transfer: linking HEIs and SMFs
Article Abstract:
The UK business industry needs cooperation and exchange of research and development, and technology between higher education institutes (HEIs) and small- and medium-sized firms (SMFs) to make significant technological transfers. These collaborations formed via networks, however, do not have enough documented information about how they are established and retained in the industry. Of the 37 HEIs referred to in the study, 70% have had partnerships with SMFs exchanging technological knowledge and increasing possibilities for innovations.

Virtual reality and innovation networks: Opportunity exploitation in dynamic SMEs
Article Abstract:
The process of technological and organisational innovation within a SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) located in a relatively remote area of northwest England is investigated. The results show that virtual technologies like information and communications technologies (ICTs) depend heavily on shared perceptions of those participating in such innovative networks and also close relationships central to sharing of tacit knowledge are best achieved through regular face-to-face interaction.

Re-engineering: a breakthrough or little new
Article Abstract:
Re-engineering entails change in applications and infrastructures of a company. It involves restructuring of core business processes to improve the profitability and long-term survival of a company. Also, the process is known to enhance product development and accelerate logistic system response. Re-engineering is being viewed as a combination of improved creative management methodologies in the past, despite its concept of redesigning.
